I agree with what you're saying. I really liked when my science fiction stuff got some looks but it, frankly, it takes longer to write. It will never make as much money on Medium as my social commentary as I just don't put it out there as often. Now, as I do like getting paid more often then ever, I write almost daily, what I think The People want but often its also what I think they need to hear. I often get the reply "You just read my mind! Thanks for putting into words what I've been feeling!" I love to see that! If that is my legacy as a writer now, so be it. If the world ever calms down enough to sit back and enjoy some scifi again, I'll go back. Welcome to tThe Golden age of Writing! And really digital/media creativity in general. The only problem is you must be prolific. There are far too many choices and The People want something new everyday. If I can give any advice about being "successful" that is about it. Just keep writing something everyday if you are at all capable. Success will come when people see you are actively writing. Everyday you put something new out there means it has a chance of being seen. When you are seen there is a chance they will check you out for more of your old stuff. Do it enough and they wont be able to go anywhere without tripping on something you've made. "Be ubiquiedous" or die is the new rule no matter what you are wrting about or creating.
