I was a big part of Occupy Lansing (MI). It was a mostly a bunch of white people but for a while we were at least united across what now divides us with Trumpism. We never seemed to catch on to the black community in the same way. We never drew them in to join us locally. It was necessary but never happened. It was a chance to unite the middle and the lower classes, regardless of race. The tea party destroyed it all instead by pushing racism, ignorance, but most importantly LEADERSHIP! They pushed for putting their LEADERS in POLITICAL OFFICE. This was the biggest failure of Occupy everywhere with their attempt to make a leaderless movement. I was done. I've been out of activism like that ever since. I don't know if America will ever have another opportunity to unite the middle and lower classes against the rich ever again in my life time. It is absolutely critical we know who our true enemies and oppressors are. But most importantly is that we start CHOOSING LEADERS that REPRESENT US regardless if they can "win" or not! Push hard enough and they will win. Just look at the tea party now and where their rabid feistiness took them. They got Trump in the White House for 4 years and shifted the Supreme Court red! Right now too many in the middle and lower still wish they could all become the next Elon or Gates. Its a the American pipe dream and its murdering all of us.
