It probably safe to say "the media" as its everything including TV, social media, radio, print, video games, etc. People are famous for being famous now and those are the most dangerous, i.e. Trump, The Kardashians, even the The Osbournes who just rode on Daddy's fame. They offer nothing but "their lives" to us. We somehow connect to these people we see ONLY on screens. We care deeply about them and "their story" as if they can actually see us too and give a damn about us as well. "Vast wasteland" does not even begin to describe "the media" today. Its all but worthless, even with its infinite possibilities as its now made to send you down only the path you want, walking with blinders, stuck in your entrenched personal algorithm. What started as a stream of information has now become our personal data canyons where it may now take eons for us to connect again down river.
