It's a bad joke. The worse joke is my people's admiration and longing for immediate gratification from cans of whoop-ass instead of long boring dragged out forever to keep the peace negotiations and compromise from "weak" leaders. It takes a strong leader to put up (or play) with enemies and maintain peace and stability. Any fuckwit can start a hot war. The better leaders know how to play a longer game coldly to avoid a hot conflict. Russia as a sworn enemy of the US instead of a twitchy ally under Putin is still probably best for the world though. At least until Russia truly embraces a better way to govern. America can not and should not condone the behavior of any despot or we'll end up with one here. We need to keep up our facade of "global freedom fighter" or else we'll forget what freedom means, it seems. Our external target needs more definition lately though, as we seem to be pointing our guns back at ourselves. Sad, but this is my honest pragmatic analysis of my countrymen. I don't want it but it's just how I see us lately. I would like for us to all just get along and share this paradise we keep destroying, only to maintain "borders." As long as people care about lines in the sand there will be people that want to kill to keep them, be they in our own neighborhoods or across an ocean.
