Putin just fucked “cancel culture” for good.
The tribe of assholes just got an unwanted new chief.
Donald J. Trump, Joe Rogan, JK Rowling, Vlad “The Impotent” Putin. What do all these people have in common? They are all “victims” of the so-called “cancel culture.” I’ve written about this before but it’s a subject too juicy to sop up with the buttered bread of justice in just one sitting. Putin though may have just eaten the final festering portion left on this buffet of willful ignorance.
The very notion of “cancel culture” is the culmination of the ancient but inaccurately perceived “right to be an asshole.” I’ve got news for you, assholes, you have no rights. You just have a small tribe that you can run to when the majority of society would rather you stay a pariah and just go the fuck away.
The four mentioned above are just the tip of this never thawing cultural shitberg. The tribe of these “victims” is added to each time these assholes get too grabby around coworkers, say something racist or sexist as a “joke,” insensitively punches down as bullies do, or a little of all of the above. Most importantly though, they never ever apologize with even a shred of sincerity.
“Cancel culture” is nothing of the kind. It's just the latest euphemism the assholes of the world use to justify their bad behavior…
