Ritten Off Day 25. New Space telescope is humanity’s last hope.
If it fails we’re all dead. Yes. All of us.
I do a lot of analysis in here. Where others may zoom in, I zoom out. I look at the day’s news, compare it to the vast history of the human condition, and try to find the patterns in the sands of time.
There are heavily worn paths aplenty. There is where you find the predictable.
The arc of history may indeed move toward justice but watch long enough and it becomes a circle.
Unless something breaks that circle, the course of humanity will go on much as it has for thousands maybe hundreds of thousands of years before.
The James Webb Space Telescope might just be that thing that shatters what it means to be a human being.
I’m scared to death that this could be our last hope as a species to unify toward anything.
You may be saying, “Come on, Sexy. Humanity is much different than we were 100,000 or even 1000 years ago.” Nope. Not really.
When you zoom out what do you still see today that you would at any other time in human history? Are there still wars? Is there still greed and suffering when there is plenty for all? Is there still a class of people that do little but sit on top of their…
