Ritten Off Day 6. Every day Americans need to up their science game.
Rule #1: DEFER TO EXPERTS!
Americans never like to admit we’re wrong. That is the first of many mistakes we make when determining our politics. Admitting a flaw is a sign of weakness to most of us. Showing weakness is just not allowed in a patriarchal, hand of God fearing, enemy smiting, competition-will-always-bring-out-the-best-in-everything society such as ours. Choosing “tough” politicians that “stay the course” often lead their people straight off a cliff.
As Former POTUS Obama once said, “The world is a messy place.” Things change. Science responds with change. Faith and religion entrench the path toward cliffs.
Science is often wrong and that is exactly why it should be listened to. When it's wrong no one has to say anything about it. Science just keeps looking for why it was wrong. It does not try to keep pitching the invalid. It does not care who is in office spreading lies to the contrary.
I found this today and everyone needs to read it. It's awesome. Ethan has been doing this science thing for a long time. I highly recommend following him.
