Snowpocalypse Day 6, 2022
Finally got to see my side of the fam yesterday.
7:02 AM Somewhere south of Lansing, MI
We were finally able to hit the road the last couple of days. Side roads are still not great but the major highways are fine. I did not post a “Day 5” yesterday as we were on the road or hanging out with my parents and my sister’s family. It was a nice but as always too quick a visit.
We don’t spend the night anymore unless we can get a hotel usually. We almost never get a good night's sleep if not at home. It usually takes at least two nights before I do sleep well in a bed not my own. The weather has been far too sketchy to make a reservation that we’d have to probably cancel anyway. Not to mention we’d rather save the money right now.
Everyone was well enough, but we are all getting older. I don’t know how many more of these visits are left with my parents. I really wish they lived just a little closer.
We managed to get through this historic storm pretty much unscathed. I know there are many people not so lucky. The number of people killed still seems to be climbing as they are found buried in their cars or just out in the open. Again, if you’re reading this, count your blessings. You probably have a roof over your head and some source of heat at least.
