The Virus Day 44, Dimondale, Michigan
All well. Day 44. Being old, I can’t help but think of how the Iran hostages were kept for 444 days before Ronnie Raygun “saved” them. Iran Contra anyone? The GOP sidestepping ethics, international treaties, and national security to look “good” to their amoral base is nothing new, my friends.
Welcome again to the same shitty GOP, different decade. This time though, we’re all hostages, the enemy is more microscopic than Trump’s brain, and it will not negotiate for the release of any of us until either we or it is the lastest thing to go extinct.
Anyway . . .
Nice day yesterday. Brooke got out and did some weeding. I wheel barreled it to the compost. I know you should not do that. It just gives the weeds a chance to grow again later, but it was a lot of topsoil too. I don’t want it to go to waste. We have the time to weed if it all pops up again elsewhere.
I do a 3-year cycle for the compost so most weeds seem to die off anyway. The first year, pile it up, anything vegetable or eggs, no meat if it can be avoided. Second-year flip into a different bin. Third-year, sift it finer through some old chicken wire in yet a different bin as finished compost. Great stuff. We eat a lot of eggs so its full of shells. Great for tomatoes. We grow romas and almost never see any end rot from calcium deficiency.
