The writer’s strike has begun. They are asking to be paid even if there is nothing for them to do. I can’t think of a quicker way to push an entire industry over the cliff of obsolescence. Management could not have asked for a better set of circumstances to replace them all. AI will be the perfect scab labor solution unless writers, unionized or otherwise, fully embrace using AI as the tool it intends to be.

In recent years, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various industries, including the field of writing. As AI becomes increasingly capable of producing high-quality content, concerns about job losses in the writing profession have emerged. I would argue that now is the worst time for writers to engage in labor strikes, as AI threatens to take over their jobs regardless. By examining historical precedents and exploring additional examples of disruptive technologies, we can gain valuable insights into how industries adapt to change.
